Biography
Candace Jordan is an Advancing Future Faculty Diversity Postdoctoral Scholar at Lehigh University. She joined the department of Religion, Culture & Society in Summer 2024.
She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Religion from Princeton University and a B.A. in Religion and Philosophy from Haverford College. Before her doctoral and postdoctoral work, Dr. Jordan worked in the Office of Academic Resources at Haverford College and was an Academic Writing Fellow at New York University Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Jordan’s work integrates religious ethics with moral psychology, feminist philosophy, and the Black radical tradition. She is preparing a book manuscript from her doctoral dissertation, which illuminates the value of anger, especially as a resource for those suffering gender and racial oppression. The project explores the relationship between divine anger and human anger and whether feeling anger in response to injustice is required for the right acknowledgment of injustice.
Dr. Jordan enjoys quilting and reading fiction. She lives in Bucks County with her partner and teenage stepdaughter.
